LAKKI MARWAT: The health department has asked authorities here to produce concept papers for two development schemes to be included in the next annual developmental programme.

Talking to journalists on Friday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA and District Development Advisory Committee chairman Johar Mohammad Khan said that he had requested Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to include upgradation of the Government City Hospital and construction of a hostel and operating theatre in it.

“The chief minister approved my request and issued directives to quarters for necessary action,” he claimed.

The lawmaker said that the planning and development department had asked the health officials to submit concept papers of both schemes in the health sector.

He said that the medical superintendent of the city hospital had been directed to prepare concept papers of both schemes and send the same to provincial authorities so that they could share those with the planning department.

Mr Khan said that the up-gradation of the hospital and ensuring availability of other facilities in it would enable the ailing people to get standard healthcare at local level.

ABDUCTED: Armed men abducted a man over a monetary dispute after injuring his wife in Badnikhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Thursday night.

Police said the suspects, including Ahmad, Fawad and Imdad, took away Javed from outside his house.

They said the kidnappers also opened fire on Javed’s wife Shahida Bibi before fleeing.

The woman told police that she heard noise at the main entrance of her house when her husband stepped out to go to the mosque to offer night prayer.

She said that she along with other female family members later saw their relatives Ahmad and Fawad along with Imdad drag her husband to their car.

The complainant said when they cried for help, the armed men shot and injured her and took her husband in the car with them.

Police said they had registered a case under relevant sections of the law and initiated an investigation.

Also, an elderly man was murdered over a petty dispute in the Ahmadkhel area in the vicinity of the city police station.

Police said Hussain Khan, Abbas Khan and Mir Abbas opened fire on Haji Fateh Khan, 66, inside the house Sherin Khan, killing him on the spot.

They said before the incident, the attackers and the deceased had exchanged harsh words over closure of a thoroughfare in the village.

The police said they were investigating the murder after registering a case against the suspects who were at large.

In another incident, a young man was shot dead and another received bullet injuries over enmity in Paharakhel Pacca area of the district.

Police said Farmanullah, 25, and Almagir, 20, were seriously wounded when rivals including Farooq and Tahir fired gunshots.

They said the injured were transported to the district headquarters hospital where Alamgir succumbed to injuries.

KILLED: Two workers were killed as a salt mine collapsed in Sarikhwa area of Karak district on Friday.

A Rescue 1122 official identified the deceased as Rasool Zaman, 23, and Hidayatullah, 28, both residents of Mir Kalam Kallay in Karak district.

He said a medical team and two ambulances had been dispatched to the area when the control room received information about the incident.

The official said the bodies were retrieved and transported to the district headquarters hospital.
