BAJAUR: A police official was killed in an armed attack here in Salarzai tehsil on Friday, police and Rescue 1122 said.

They said that Fazal Rehan was on way home in Mata Shah area, when armed men targeted his vehicle with automatic rifles in Chootra locality at about 11am.

According to the Rescue 1122, the 42-year-old Fazal Rehan was critically wounded in the incident and taken to the district headquarters hospital Khar for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Local residents, who attributed the attack to a long-standing feud between Rehan’s family and another family, said that the attackers fled soon after the incident.The district police officer ( DPO), Waqas Rafique, also confirmed personal enmity behind the murder.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of the slain police constable were held at the police lines ground in Khar before his body was dispatched to his native area for burial.
