KARACHI: The problems and aspirations of Iran and Pakistan found an echo in … parliament at its historic session on Wednesday [March 15] when the Shahinshah of Iran addressed [it]. The spirit of Islam permeated throughout the address of welcome presented to the Shahinshah by the prime minister of Pakistan, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, as well as the Shahinshah’s address. Both [men] emphasised the principles of equality of man and social justice as enunciated by Islam and asserted that Islam was the only way for the salvation of humanity.

The Shahinshah … declared in unambiguous words that if the Islamic countries based their internal reforms on the Islamic principles of social justice and banished exploitation of man by man, their national power would increase, they would enjoy happiness and prosperity and “thus will play their historic role in the service of world civilisation”.

The expression of love of every one in Pakistan during his two-week tour, the Shahinshah said, had filled his heart “with great joy and delight”. He said the Iranians also had the best “regards” and “warmest feeling” towards Pakistan.
