RAWALPINDI: District administration will distribute wheelchairs, hearing aids, white canes, Braille boards and electric wheelchairs to 108 disabled persons in the district.
A meeting if District Welfare and Rehabilitation Unit Rawalpindi was held under the Chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Abdullah regarding the Assistive Devices Flagship Programme of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Social Welfare, Secretary DWRU Rawalpindi, Rukhsana Mazhar Awanand other members of District Zakat Officer, Heads of TEVTA, Sports, Education, Special Education, Labour and Health Department and representatives of NGOs.
Under the programme, wheelchairs, hearing aids, white canes, Braille boards and electric wheelchairs will be provided to disabled persons.
The additional deputy commissioner headquarters said that this initiative is a positive development to make the lives of disabled people easier, which will help them become independent.
