ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited (Jazz) have signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen disaster risk communication and early warning systems.

A statement issued here said that the partnership aimed to leverage Jazz’s mobile technology to improve national disaster preparedness.

The signing ceremony, held at NDMA Headquarters in Islamabad, was attended by NDMA Chief of Staff Brigadier Qasim Mehmood and Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim.

“Key initiatives under this collaboration include real-time early warning dissemination, AI-driven enhancements to the NDMA’s mobile app and nationwide awareness campaigns on climate change and disaster risks,” the statement read.

Additionally, NDMA and Jazz will work together on capacity-building programmes, with Jazz providing emergency communication support as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ibrahim emphasised the significance of the partnership, stating, “At Jazz, we recognise the urgent need for a proactive and technology-driven approach to disaster management.

Our collaboration with NDMA is a crucial step toward strengthening Pakistan’s emergency response framework, ensuring that communities receive timely and reliable information to protect lives and livelihoods.”

NDMA said that this strategic alliance highlights the role of technology in enhancing disaster resilience and underscores a commitment to improving emergency response mechanisms across Pakistan.
