CHITRAL: The participants of a security conference here on Wednesday decided to deal with iron hand those social media users, who posted instigative and inflammatory material on their pages to create social and communal unrest in the area.

The conference was organised jointly by Chitral Scouts, district administrations and police of Lower Chitral and Upper Chitral. Headed by commandant of Chitral Scouts, the conference was aimed at working out a solid joint strategy to avert and abort any act of saboteur activity in the area, keeping in view the prevailing circumstances in the country marred by a wave of terrorism.

Discussions were made on the possible security situation in the area during the upcoming season of tourism and a host of measures were recommended to be taken to tackle it effectively.

The decisions to be jointly implemented by different institutions included that of carrying out scanning operation in Drosh and Chitral city, tightening the reconnaissance process of foreign nationals and enhancing police patrolling around the camps of Afghan refugees.

It was also decided to scrutinise arm licences afresh by the joint team and increasing the strength of Chitral Scouts. Those in attendance were deputy commissioners and district police officers of both Lower Chitral and Upper Chitral as well as the officers of law enforcement agencies.
