RAWALPINDI: A young man was gunned down while two others were injured in a quarrel between the two groups in the Westridge area on Wednesday.

Khurshid Anwar, a resident of Westridge lodged a complaint with the police stating that he serves in Pakistan Railways and has two sons and two daughters. He said his elder son, Ahmad Bilal, left the house at around 11:30pm with his friend Asad Ali, who had also been living in his neighbourhood, for Dhoke Khabba to visit their friend Sohail.

He further said that he received a phone call at 2:40am that Ahmad Bilal had been shot at Range Road and they were shifting him to the Rawalpindi District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

He said after receiving the phone call, he with brothers Arshad Mehmood and Muhammad Noman hurriedly reached the DHQ hospital where they found Bilal’s body lying in the mortuary.

He said Asad Ali informed him that he and Ahmad Bilal were present at his friend’s house in Dhoke Khabbad when Ahmad Bilal received a phone call from another friend and called him to reach Range Road.

On reaching Range Road, they started playing snooker and sometime later when they came out of the club, they found Zer Yab and another person there.

Umair exchanged some words with Zer Yab over a petty issue and pulled out a gun in a fit of anger.

Ahmad Bilal tried to intervene but the suspect shot at the three friends, injuring them all.

The injured were rushed to the DHQ hospital where Ahmad Bilal succumbed to his injuries, while the other two were stated to be in critical condition.
