SUKKUR: Four policemen, including an ASI, were suspended on Wednesday on charges of subjecting women to violence during an operation in the jurisdiction of Sangi police station the same day.

Sukkur DIG Faisal Abdullah Chachar directed SSP Azhar Khan to take action against the accused policemen and institute an inquiry against them, said police officials.

ASI Mukhtiar Bhutto, constables Shafqat Mangi, Abid Malik and Mukhtiar Mahesar, who had beaten up women during a recent operation in Mehar Jatoi village, had been suspended, they said.

The SSP ordered DSP Mushtaq Shah to submit him a report on the incident within seven days.
