LAHORE: The district administration on Wednesday sealed 10 properties during the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign in the city.
In a series of coordinated operations, 10 properties have been sealed, four truckloads of goods confiscated, numerous huts dismantled and unauthorised wires clipped across the city.
The Raiwind assistant commissioner sealed four shops and seized goods that had spilled onto public pathways.
Meanwhile, the Shalimar AC teamed up with Lesco and MCL officials to oversee the clamping of illegal wires in Baghbanpura Bazaar, tackling a longstanding hazard.
On GT Road in Shalimar, half a truckload of goods was confiscated near Jan Muhammad Road and Kachi Kothi Stop.
The Allama Iqbal Town AC took the fight to Johar Town and Aman Centre, clearing encroachments and confiscating a truckload of items, while huts along the Raiwind Bypass Flyover were also removed.
In Cantt, the AC spearheaded operations in Dharampura Bazaar and Madni Road, sealing six shops and seizing another truckload of goods and Model Town AC targeted K-Block Market and Valencia Town, ensuring no corner was left untouched.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said temporary and permanent encroachments would be removed without exception.
He said these actions were taken under a broader vision to enhance Lahore’s livability, improve traffic flow and ensure safety for its millions of residents.
Meanwhile, the assistant commissioners and price control magistrates also conducted operations against price hike across the city.
The enforcement drive has resulted in Rs80,000 in fines imposed on 12 violations, 10 warnings issued, and three cases registered against shopkeepers.
The price control magistrates have been particularly vigilant in Township area, where cases have been registered against shop owners specifically targeting those overcharging for beef and chicken.
Ravi AC Tariq Shabbir conducted fruit and vegetable price inspections, imposing fines totaling Rs25,000 on violators.
Allama Iqbal Town AC Khwaja Umair inspected Model Bazaar Chung, Sher Shah Model Bazaar, and chicken shops, where he arrested a butcher for selling meat at inflated prices and ensured meat was subsequently sold at notified rates.
During visits to Model Bazaars, magistrates engaged directly with consumers, expressing satisfaction after receiving positive feedback.
Wagah Town AC Amir Butt conducted price inspections at the street vendor market, imposing fines on two violations.
