THE recent kidnapping and gruesome murder of young Mustafa Amir is a stark reminder of the decay in our society, and the abuse of power by the wealthy and the influential. The murderer, as reported, has links with the illegal business of illicit drugs. In a nutshell, this is what society has come down to.

After attacking and fatally injuring the young man, the culprits drove the body all the way to Hub in Balochistan in a car with tinted glasses and without a registration plate.

The car was torched in a remote area. It is really surprising how the car was not intercepted even once by the police along the way, or at the provincial border between Sindh and Balochistan.

After the gory incident, the father of the accused had the audacity to appear on various television channels, speaking in an aggressive and threatening tone.

In the past, wealthy and powerful criminals have evaded punishment. One hopes that speedy justice is served to the deceased young man’s parents in this case.
