ISLAMABAD: Robbers and thieves looted/stole cash and valuables worth over Rs7 million in the capital, police said on Thursday.
In the first incident, armed men robbed a man of cash and valuables worth over Rs2.4 million in the limits of Loi Bher police station.
Mushtaq Khan, a businessman, told the police that he was carrying Rs500,000 cash and later withdrew Rs1.6 million from a bank at Rawat.
He said he had to exit Islamabad Expressway to go to Sihala to inquire about the health of his relative. However, by mistake he crossed Kak Bridge and stopped on the expressway near River Garden to call the relative.
In the meantime, three armed persons on a motorcycle pulled up and held him at gunpoint.
The gunmen snatched the cash (Rs2.1million), an iPhone along with another mobile and a 9mm pistol and escaped.
In another incident, a gang of robbers looted cash and valuables worth over 1.6 million from a shop located in the area of Shahzad Town police station.
The incident took place during Iftar at a gas shop owned by Munawar Hussain, when he along with his friends was taking meals. Two riders of a motorcycle raided the shop and held them at gunpoint.
The gunmen looted cash Rs815,000, a 9mm pistol, six mobile phones, and escaped.
Likewise, a gang of robbers looted cash and a mobile phones worth over half a million rupees in the limits of Loi Bher police station.
Mohammad Ayaz went to Bahria Town Phase IV for shopping. Two riders of a car appeared at the scene when he disembarked from his vehicle and held him up at gunpoint.
They snatched Rs35,000 and a mobile phone from him. The criminals also forced Ayaz to unlock his phone and got access to his bank app and transferred Rs188,000 to another bank account.
Similarly, a gang of two robbers looted cash and a mobile at a distance of a kilometre away from Sabzi Mandi police station. Mohammad Aaman said two gunmen intercepted him and looted a mobile phone, cash Rs40,000 and a wrist watch near the I-10/2 football ground.
Moreover, a thief stole cash, gold and a motorcycle worth over Rs2.3 million from the house Kaniz Bibi at Kiani Town.
In another theft incident, thieves stole Rs175,000 from a shop located in the area of Koral police station.
Likewise, thieves also stole cash and valuables from a shop located at a distance of 300 metres away from Bhara Kahu police station.
