RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four officers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on corruption charges and a suspect for allegedly running an anti-state campaign on social media.

According to a spokesperson for the anti-crime watchdog, raids were underway to arrest other suspects as 46 individuals were nominated in the alleged corruption case alongside the CDA officials.

He said a case was registered against the issue of allotting plots to various individuals, allegedly through corrupt practices.

The official said the arrested suspects include a director, a deputy director, an estate management officer and an assistant.

“The accused committed corruption and allotted 43 plots in different sectors of Islamabad to undeserving people,” he claimed.

The allotted plots are reportedly worth billions of rupees.

“A total of 46 accused were nominated in the case. The suspects were arrested and an investigation was launched. Raids are being conducted to arrest other suspects,” the FIA spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, FIA’s Islamabad Cyber Crime Circle arrested a suspect for allegedly running an anti-state campaign and leaking sensitive government data on social media.

A spokesperson for the FIA said that the cybercrime circle conducted a raid at the Lake View Society in Bani Gala and arrested the suspect.

The suspect illegally accessed the passport and immigration database. Photos of citizens’ passports and high-ranking government officials were shared on social media, the spokesman added.

The spokesman stated that the accused tried to spread fear and panic among the public by sharing sensitive information from the X account. A case was registered against the accused.

An investigation has been launched by seizing the suspect’s social media accounts and digital evidence. Strict action will be taken against the accused as per the law, the spokesman said.
