PESHAWAR: Awami National Party has called for the establishment of a truth and reconciliation commission to address the issue of terrorism.

Party’s president Aimal Wali Khan emphasised the need for acknowledging past mistakes, seeking forgiveness from the nation, and taking steps to rectify the harm caused.

“ANP has consistently opposed extremism and terrorism. The party demands an end to state sponsorship of non-state actors and a comprehensive strategy to counter terrorism,” he said in a statement issued here the other day.

Aimal also called for effective implementation of the National Action Plan.

He said provincial governments should be empowered to address local issues effectively.

“Regional cooperation should be fostered for economic stability and countering terrorism,” he demanded.

“ANP emphasises the need for a united, organised, and consistent policy to counter terrorism and promote peace, stability, and democracy in Pakistan,” he said.
