KARACHI: Showing unified support for the armed forces in their fight against terrorism, the City Council on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution at its emergency session held to condemn the recent wave of terrorism and attack on Jaffar Express in Balochistan.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab presided over the session attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi.

In his address, Barrister Wahab highlighted the role of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in strengthening the country’s defense and stated that the entire nation stood with its security forces.

He also praised the government and armed forces for their successful fight against terrorism, acknowledging their efforts in eliminating terrorism.

The session was addressed by Leader of Opposition Syed Saifuddin, Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi, and council members Mirza Maqbool Ahmed, Naeem Kamran, Mubashir Ahmed, Asad Aman, Junaid Makati and Shehzadi Rai.

The council members expressed their unity against terrorism, particularly in the light of recent incidents in Pakistan. They emphasised that as a nuclear power, Pakistan was well aware of how to defend itself and maintain its sovereignty.

The entire nation was determined to act as a strong and united front against terrorism. They reassured that Pakistan’s armed forces would continue to thwart terrorist ambitions, just as they had in the past.

Syed Saifuddin stressed the need for fairness and justice, warning that injustices and discrimination bred negative sentiments and contributed to terrorism.
