RAWALPINDI: Entry of all heavy vehicles, including goods transport will be restricted in Islamabad from 12 noon on March 22 to 3pm on March 23 on the occasion of Pakistan Day parade, a spokesperson for the National Highways and Motorway Police said on Friday.
He said that large vehicles, HTVs, trucks, trailers, and all freight vehicles would not be allowed to enter Rawalpindi—Islamabad during this time.
As part of the traffic plan, all large vehicles coming from Peshawar via GT Road to Rawalpindi and Islamabad will be stopped at Margalla and Taxila, and vehicles coming from Peshawar via the motorway will be stopped at Burhan Interchange.
The spokesperson said that all large vehicles coming from Lahore via the motorway will be stopped at the Chakri Interchange and those coming from Lahore via GT Road will be stopped at Mandara Toll Plaza.
Similarly, heavy vehicles coming from Kashmir and Murree will be stopped 20 km before the 17 Mile Toll Plaza.
The spokesman said that all owners and drivers of large vehicles are advised to avoid travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad from 12:00 noon on March 22 to 3:00pm on March 23 and ensure their stay at a safe location to avoid any inconvenience.
