LAHORE: A judicial magistrate of cantonment courts has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for actress Nazish Jahangir in a fraud and criminal breach of trust case.
The actress has already denied the charges against her in media statements.
The magistrate issued the warrants on Thursday in a case filed by actor Aswad Haroon, ordering the police to arrest and present the actress before the court on March 22.
Haroon said he had already filed a police complaint against Ms Jahangir for not returning his money and a car, but justice had not been dispensed with in his case.
The actor got the case registered against the actress with Defense-C police station in July 2024 under section 420 of the PPC.
He alleged that Ms Jahangir borrowed his car and Rs2.5 million for a project promising to return them in two months, but failed to do so even after six months. He said the actress, her accomplice Sikandar Khan and three unidentified armed men hurled him life threats when he was invited to a farmhouse to take his belongings back.
Last year, the Lahore High Court had directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to decide an application of the actress wherein she sought to stop propaganda against her on social media.
Her lawyer argued that propaganda on social media had been damaging the reputation and image of the actress.
She said the issue of negative propaganda had become a serious problem, as it caused significant harm to people’s honour on social media.
She asked the court to order the removal of false content against Nazish Jahangir from social media and to restrain fellow actor Aswad Haroon from engaging in such activities.
