DERA GHAZI KHAN: Dera Ghazi Khan police claimed to have foiled another attack by terrorists on Lakhani check post of Wahowa police station on Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, the fifth during this month.
District Police Officer(DPO) Syed Ali saidthat 10 to 12terrorists attacked Lakhani check post from three sides at Sehri time on Friday, using rocket launchers and other heavy weapons.
He said the police personnel, upon being alerted, immediately spotted the attackers with the help of thermal cameras.
The terrorists failed to reach the check post due to a vigorous response by the police personnel and were forced to escape after suffering heavy losses after two hours of fighting, the DPO added.
Regional Police Officer retired Captain Sajjad Hassan Khan appreciated the operation led by the DPO for reaching the Lakhani check post on time.
A Punjab Police spokespersonsaid that a search operation launched by police and other law enforcement agencies is underway in the border area to arrest terrorists.
Punjab Police Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar, while praising the personnel who bravely fought against terrorists, said police’s resolve to root out militancy could not be shaken by such cowardly attacks.
