Three injured as IED goes off in Wana

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Three people were injured when an improvised explosive device went off in Rustam Bazaar in Wana, Lower South Waziristan district, on Saturday.

The blast occurred near the car of a local elder, Noorgai Wazir, who remained unhurt. Three people travelling with him in the car suffered injuries.

The injured people were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wana.

Medical superintendent Dr Jan Mohammad told Dawn that one of the injured men was in critical condition, and was referred to a Dera Ismail Khan hospital.

The police launched an investigation into the incident.

District police officer Asif Bahader confirmed the incident and said that the IED exploded near the car of Noorgai Wazir.
