BAHAWALNAGAR: Police arrested two youths for kidnapping and gang-raping a 14-year-old girl here on Saturday.
According to the FIR, the alleged survivor and her aunt were waiting for a bus at Karmanwala Chowk, Bahawalnagar, on Thursday evening when two acquaintances from Minchinabad offered them a ride.
Once inside the car, the suspects allegedly took them to an unidentified location where they gang-raped the girl before abandoning her at Karmanwala Chowk at 6:30am the next morning.
A medical check-up of the victim was conducted on the magistrate’s orders. Following a written request from the victim’s father, a case was registered on March 21. Police said both suspects had been arrested, and an investigation was ongoing.
SENTENCED: A district and sessions court judge on Saturday sentenced a man to
12 and a half years in jail for attempting to assault a seven-year-old girl while she was returning home from school last year.
A case was registered under sections 376 and 511 of the PPC on the complaint of the victim’s father. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail Anjum found Saifullah Rehmani of Basti Rehmaniya guilty of
the crime on March 20, 2024, within Shehar Farid police station’s jurisdiction.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the convict, with an additional six-month imprisonment in case of non-payment.
