LAHORE: Lahore and other cities across Punjab remained on high security alert as thousands gathered to commemorate the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (AS) on Saturday.

Mourning processions and gatherings were held throughout the province.

In Lahore, the central procession commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali began from Mubarak Haveli (Mochi Gate) and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah, following its designated route.

The Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite Force teams ensured effective patrolling along the procession route.

Lahore police alongside the district administration, Safe Cities Authority and other institutions jointly worked to provide security.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the central procession, which began from Mubarak Haveli, passed through its traditional routes and culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah in the evening.

He praised the tireless efforts of the police, administration and the line departments for fulfilling their duties.Meanwhile, Multan police also took stringent measures to ensure foolproof security for the processions.

Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar conducted a detailed visit of the procession routes and reviewed the security arrangements.

SSP Operations Kamran Amir Khan, SP Cantt Kanait Azhar, ASP Cantt Halar Khan Chandio, along with other police officers, were also present with him.
