TAXILA: Attock police have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sir Syed Education Foundation of Pakistan (SSEFP) for providing free education to children of police martyrs.
On behalf of Attock police, the agreement was signed by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Ghias Gul Khan and renowned educationist Qazi Zahoorul Haq, project director of the foundation, to ensure quality education facilities to the children of policemen, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
According to the MOU, admission and security fees will not be applicable on children of the martyrs. Besides children of police officials who were injured in the line of duty would be given 50pc concession in fees while 30pc waiver would be extended to children of active-duty police officials and retired employees in over three dozen schools of the foundation located across Attock.
Addressing the MOU signing ceremony, DPO Dr Ghias Gul Khan thanked the management of educational institutions for signing the agreement.
He said welfare of Attock policemen was a top priority and equal education and health facilities would be provided to each policeman irrespective of the grade.
Addressing the ceremony, member board of governors SSEFP Sardar Zulfiqar Hayat Khan said theMOU was a tangible token of appreciation, acknowledging and honouring the unwavering contributions and sacrifices made by forces to safeguard the nation and its citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, President Sir Syed Education Foundation Pakistan Prof Tahir Durrani paid tributes to the police department.
“The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) stands as a vivid manifestation of the collaborative synergy between the foundation and police department of Attock,” he said.
Prof Durrani said sacrifices of police martyrs would be remembered forever, adding that this was a humble gesture to support their families.
“It is our responsibility to ensure the welfare of families of those policemen who sacrificed their lives for our better future,” he said.
