NAROWAL: The revamp of Gurdwara Babey Di Bri will promote religious tourism and economic activity in Sialkot.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said this on Sunday after attendingthe 12th Annual Samagwara held at the gurdwara, where Bhog Sahib’s Ardas is going on.

He said on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the project to restore 46 gurdwaras in Punjab has been started.

He said the gurdwara had been ignored during the last 70 years, adding that the pond of Babey Di Beri Sahib has been handed over to the local Sikh administration.

He hoped that the revamp of the gurdwara will promote international Sikh tourism in the area. He said that Sikh pilgrims from all over the world visit their places of religious importance in Lahore, Narowal, Panja Sahib and Nankana Sahib, and now they will also come to gurdwara Babey Di Bari Sahib.

He said that with the revival of the gurdwara economic activity in Sialkot will also increase.

The minister said that on March 23, a resolution was passed for the establishment of a welfare state, which promised religious freedom for all minorities in Pakistan.

Mr Arora said as per the vision of the PML-N president Nawaz Sharif there is no difference between the rights of the minorities and the majority in Pakistan.

Special prayers were offered for the security and stability of Pakistan during the Sikh rituals at the gurdwara. The minister also served food to Sikh Sangat.

The event was also attended by Sardar Jaskran Singh Sadhu, Sardar Hira Singh, Sardar Sunil Singh, Sardar Vinod Singh, Sardar Akash Singh and Sardar Peace Jait Singh.
