ISLAMABAD: The death toll from Monday’s shooting outside an Islamabad court rose to two after an injured from the attack succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Nasir. On Monday, a citizen named Shahbaz Hamid was also killed in the same attack.
A case has been registered with Ramna police station under sections 302, 324, 148, 149, and 109 of the PPC in response to a complaint lodged by Mulazim Hussain, a relative of the two deceased.
According to the FIR, Shahbaz Hamid and Nasir, along with Abdul Qadir came to the court in G-11 in connection with the hearing of a case registered at Kirpa police station. When they reportedly reached a road outside the court, five motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at them.
Consequently, Shahbaz and Nasir sustained critical bullet injuries and fell to the ground, while Abdul Qadir remained unhurt.
Later, Abdul Qadir shifted the injured to the hospital with the help of passersby where Shahbaz was pronounced dead on arrival. Medical assistance was given to Nasir, but he too died during the treatment.
Police said the duo were killed by attackers sent by a rival group over an old enmity.
They said the decades-old enmity, the cause of which remains unknown to investigators, has also claimed the life of Shahbaz’s father as well.
Separate cases were registered against both the rival groups at Koral and Kirpa police stations under different charges including murder and attempted murder.
