ABBOTTABAD: The police department has deployed over 6,000 personnel across Hazara Division as part of a security plan for the upcoming Eidul Fitr festival.
It directed all district police officers to monitor Eid security arrangements to ensure protection of residents and visitors.
Also, effective security of the Chinese nationals working on development projects as well as that of important places will be ensured, according to Hazara DIG Nasir Mahmoud Satti.
During a meeting, the DIG reviewed the security plan and declared the law and order situation satisfactory.
He said the police personnel to be deployed included operational staff as well as traffic wardens and officials of the Elite Force, SSU, Ladies Police, Special Branch and CTD.
The DIG said Hazara police were always ready to deal with any emergency situation.
He said a traffic plan had been developed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, while all possible security measures would be taken for tourists.
Mr Satti told DPOs to monitor the implementation of the Eid security plan in their respective districts and ensure better patrolling in major bazaars through personnel in plainclothes and policewomen, especially during the last days of Ramazan.
He said the CTD and Special Branch officers and personnel would keep a close watch on suspects and people placed in Schedule-IV, while traffic personnel would ensure smooth flow of vehicles without harassing or unnecessarily imposing fines on drivers.
The DIG, however, said vehicles coming in from other districts should be checked thoroughly, with passengers treated well.
“Strict legal action should be taken against those firing in the air, exploding fireworks, drifting, and doing a wheelie,” he said.
Mr Satti said police officers should visit personnel in police stations, checkpoints and other places during Eid days to encourage them to do duty diligently.
