DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A clash over a land irrigation dispute in Bhagwani Shumali area of Paharpur tehsil here claimed four lives and left four others injured on Tuesday.

The district police’s spokesperson Syed Yaqoob Bukhari said the incident occurred when a longstanding feud between two groups over water usage escalated into a deadly exchange of gunfire.

The deceased were identified as Ghulam Yaseen, Mohammad Amir Hamza, Nasrullah and Sanaullah, while the injured included Sajid, Aasim, Ramzan, and Ahmed Saeed.

Local residents moved the injured to a hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment. Upon receiving news of the incident, ASP Ali Hamza rushed to the hospital to enquire about the injured.

The police have collected evidence from the crime scene and registered a case, launching a thorough investigation into the matter. In light of the tensions, additional police force has been deployed in the area to prevent further flare-up in tension.
