ISLAMABAD: Three persons were killed and one injured during a gun battle between two groups over a property dispute, police said.

The incident took place inside Bharia Town Phase 3 located in the area of Lohi Bher police station.

According to the FIR, the complainant Mohammad Hafiz and his brother Naveed Hanif came outside the house to see off Naveed’s friend Yasir Satti, who came to meet him. In the meantime about 12 persons came in two vehicles and started abusing them.

Hafiz and Naveed asked them to stop using foul language, but they started firing from pistols and rifles. As a result Naveed sustained bullet injuries in his chest while Yasir at his leg.

Hafiz, Naveed and Yasir ran towards the house, the attackers started indiscriminate firing and as a result two of their accomplices also sustained injuries and died on the spot.

Later, Naveed was taken to hospital where he was also pronounced dead.

The reason behind the attack was a property dispute, as a man, namely Shahzad Mughal married Naveed and Hafiz’s sister and demanded her share in the property. He also threatened them with dire consequences on phone.

Hafiz alleged that Shahzad’s guards and employees attacked and murdered Naveed on the behest of Shahzad.

A case has been registered at Lohi Bher police station under sections 302, 324, 148, 149, 109 in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Hafiz.

Two suspects injured during encounter

Two suspects were injured during an encounter between police and gunmen in Islamabad.

According to police sources, the shootout unfolded when the police were taking two under custody suspects for the recovery of looted items.

A case has been registered under sections 324, 353, 186 and 422 of PPC.

According to the FIR, the two suspects were in police custody in connection with the investigation of an alleged robbery committed on Feb 12.

During the interrogation, the suspects revealed the location where they had allegedly concealed stolen money and said they could assist the police in recovering the amount.

In response, a police team was constituted and the handcuffed suspects were taken for the recovery. However, when the police team reached the Service Road in I-9/1, four armed motorcyclists opened gunfire at them.

As a result, the team stopped the vehicle, disembarked from it and took cover behind the bushes and an exchange of gunfire ensued.

When the firing stopped, the police found that the handcuffed detainees were injured.

The FIR suggested that the accomplices of the suspects had information about their movement and attacked the police to set the detainees free.
