MUZAFFARGARH: A tanker carrying 31 tonnes of LPG overturned on the roadside near City Kot Addu Police Station.
The accident triggered gas leak risks and fears of a disaster.
Kot Addu and Sananwan DSPs arrived at the site with police personnel to manage the situation and prevent any catastrophe.
The Kot Addu city police were alerted about the incident on Kot Addu-Sananwan Road. Gas leakage from the overturned tanker caused concerns among the residents.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Munawar Abbas also arrived at the scene and ordered an immediate evacuation of the area.
Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence teams rushed to assist police in securing the location.
Technical experts from nearby Pak-Arab Refinery Company thoroughly examined the tanker and confirmed that no leakage was occurring.
The administration tried to remove the tanker, but a small crane proved ineffective. A larger crane and a new carrier machine were brought in from Multan, which safely shifted the tanker to a safer place.
MPA BOOKED: A case has been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA (PP-273) Sardar Dawood Khan Jatoi under the provisions of crime and murder at Jatoi police station.
According to first information report, complainant Rana Nawaz said he had bought 400 kanal land for farming in 2010 from the Syed family and in 2014, MPA Jatoi and Mohammed Yusuf occupied it and till now they did not vacate the land despite requests.
On Tuesday, he said, he along with his sons went to MPA Sardar Daud Khan Jatoi who refused to vacate the land and threatened them with dire consequences.
The Jatoi police registered the case against him and Mohammed Yusuf Bhutta under section 506 B, 447, 34 of Pakistan Penal Code. Sardar Daud Khan Jatoi is son of ex-MNA and ex-district nazim Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi.
When contacted, Sardar Daud denied the allegations saying that being a PTI MPA, he was being victimised by the ruling party. He said he never occupied the land, adding that he would meet the district police officer for clarification.
SMUGGLING: Police conducted a raid at Head Taunsa Barrage and seized smuggled goods worth millions, including solar inverters, which were later handed over to customs officials.
Kot Addu Saddar SHO Zawar Hussain and his team launched an operation against non-custom paid goods at Head Taunsa Barrage.
During the inspection of a high-leak dump, police recovered 48 solar inverters valued at Rs2.88 million.
The seized goods and the vehicle transporting them were handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.
