LAKKI MARWAT: The police have solved the murder case of a businessman and arrested two suspects during raids in Lakki Marwat city, SP investigations Murad Khan Wazir claimed on Friday.

Speaking at a presser in the police lines, he said Mohammad Shoaib, who had an online business, went missing from his home in Lakki city on Oct 25, last year.

He said after registration of a case on the complaint of Shoaib’s mother in the Lakki city police station, district police officer Mohammad Jawad Ishaq formed a special team to trace the suspects with the help of modern technology and human intelligence.

“During the initial investigation, experts obtained information about the car of the missing young businessman, which led them to the suspects involved in his disappearance and subsequent killing,” he said.

Murder took place in Oct, remains of body recovered

Flanked by other police officers, Mr Wazir said the police arrested one of the suspects, identified as Mohammad Ilyas, during a raid in Mohallah Michenkhel locality.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of the businessman, and disclosed the names of other accomplices,” he said, adding he also recorded his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC.

SP Wazir said on identification of Ilyas, police recovered the remains of Shoaib from fields near Wanda Kutana and arrested another suspect, identified as Aftab Ahmad, in the Railway Station area while he was attempting to flee to Islamabad.

The official said police seized a pistol with five bullets and a silencer used in the crime and a mobile phone of the deceased from Ahmad.

“The men along with other accomplices brutally murdered Shoaib and buried his body at a deserted place in order to loot US dollars, worth millions of rupees in Pakistani currency, from his mobile account,” he stated.

SP Wazir said Ahmad was a professional criminal and he along with other accomplices had also looted cash and gold ornaments from the house of his uncle, Hakeem Saeed Ahmed, in Lakki city a couple of weeks ago.

“Police have recovered the cash from his possession and further investigation into both the cases is underway,” he added.

VISIT TO JAIL: Following the directives of the Peshawar High Court Chief Justice SM Attique Shah, District and Sessions Judge, Karak, Syed Yasir Shabbir visited the central jail on Friday and met with inmates and heard their problems.

Senior civil judge Aziz Ahmed also accompanied him.

The judges went to barracks and distributed Eid gifts among the children of women inmates.

They inspected the hospital and drug rehabilitation centre. They also inspected the jail portion, where a video link facility has been provided to the prisoners to talk to their families.

The DSJ directed the jail administration to provide all facilities permitted under the jail manual to the inmates.
