RAWALPINDI: As many as 12 robberies and 22 motorcycle theft incidents were reported to the police in a single day. Similarly, in Islamabad a man was injured during a robbery, while cash and valuables worth millions of rupees were looted in three different places including a house, police said on Friday.

A large sum of money and gold jewellery was taken away by unidentified culprits from different parts of the city. A gang of robbers targeted a family even in the strictly guarded Defense Housing Authority (DHA )in Morgah police area.

Tahir Mehmood, a resident of (DHA) lodged an FIR with the Morgah police saying that he was sitting with his family at Iftar on Thursday when four persons carrying pistol and daggers entered his house and held entire family at gunpoint.

He said that two of the robbers kept on guarding his wife and children while the two others started searching cupboards and drawers.

The robbers stole Rs90,000, 1020 dollars, 820 euros , prize bonds worth Rs 400,000 and gold jewellery worth Rs 6,950,000 and later escaped with the loot in a car parked outside the house.

Two friends, Saleem and Zafar, were abducted by four motorcycle riders while they were on their way home in the Dhamial area on Thursday night and detained in a house. Later they robbed them of Rs142,000 and a gold ring worth Rs300,000 and a mobile phone before freeing them, Saleem told the police.

Besides 12 robberies, 22 motorcycles, two cars and two other vehicles and several mobile phone were snatched on Thursday.

In Islamabad, a man was injured during a robbery, while cash and valuables worth millions of rupees were looted from three different places including a house, police said.

In the first robbery incident, gunmen shot and injured a man during the robbery near Khanna police station.

The injured was identified as Faizan Ali, who runs water supply business. He along with his brother Mehran Ali came over to a service station near a marriage hall to get their vehicle washed.

In the meantime, three riders came on a motorcycle and held the siblings and the staff of the service station at gunpoint. Later, they looted Rs70,000 and mobile phones from Faizan Ali and Mehran Ali, besides, cash from the staff of service station and escaped.

However, the siblings started chasing them. When the robbers saw them chasing the robbers and started firing on them. As a result Faizan Ali sustained critical bullet injuries.

A gang of robbers looted cash and valuables worth over Rs4 million from a house located in the limits of Bhara Kahu police station.

In another robbery incident a gang of robbers snatched a motorcycle and a mobile from a man in the limit of Sabzi Mandi police station.

Likewise, another gang of robbers looted cash and mobile phones from a man in Shahzad Town police station area.

Meanwhile, burglars stole valuables worth over Rs1.5million from a house, located in the limits of Tarnol police station. The incident took place in the house of Usman Rasheed in G-15/1, when he left for Iftar. During his absence some burglars broke into the house after breaking the wood door and ransacked it.
