UMERKOT: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that no anti-Sindh project can be launched while Pakistan Peoples Party holds reins of Sindh government and no new canal is being built only propaganda is being spread about canals project in a bid to create unrest, which is condemnable.
The chief minister told journalists after attending Chehlum of veteran party leader Nawab Yousuf Talpur here on Friday that even the strongest military dictators could not construct Kalabagh Dam, hence no project that went against Sindh’s interest could succeed.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari had made it clear in his address to joint session of the parliament that provinces had objections to the canals project, still rumours were being spread that the president had approved the project. In reality, the president could not approve any project against Sindh, he said.
He said that according to the constitution, no water project could be implemented without consultation with all provinces. With the PPP government in Sindh, no anti-Sindh project would be allowed, nor was any new canal being built, he said.
Shah said that Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project was not taken up at all in Ecnec meeting while Rs435 billion worth Sialkot-Bahawalpur project was discussed although Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project was more importance than that.
He said that he had taken notice of irregularities in the recruitment process in police and action would be taken as soon as home minister returned. “We will not allow injustice to anyone,” he added.
He said that Nawab Yusuf Talpur was a valuable asset of the party, and his services would always be remembered.
