KARACHI: Enunciating the Pakistan Government’s socio-economic policy Finance Minister Ghulam Mohammad announced in Parliament yesterday [March 29] that the Govern-ment wanted to remove large inequalities in income without affecting individual enterprise and personal freedom. The Finance Min-ister was defending the Government’s taxation policy during the final reading of the Finance Bill. The Bill was passed after a six-hour discussion spread over two days. Mr Ghu-lam Mohammad declared that the Gove-rnment wanted to bring about … a “change for the benefit of the downtrodden” … “without creating chaos and without loss of personal freedom”.
