KOHAT: Masked men looted cash and valuables from traders at gunpoint at the Tanda Lake picnic spot, where they had gone to have an Iftar the other day.
A trader, Suleman Afridi, told Dawn on Sunday that as soon as they finished Iftar, five armed men came down from the mountainside and deprived all of them of cash, mobile phones and wrist watches at gunpoint, and disappeared.
Mr Afridi said that he had Rs90,000 in his pocket, which was snatched from him.
All the looted traders have got registered a case in the Saddar police station, he said.
It merits a mention here that last month, the district police chief announced that the Tanda Dam picnic spot had been made secure for tourists and visitors. But, soon after that, two officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department were killed by militants on Tanda Lake Road.
The Tanda Dam spot of picnickers has always remained a target of militants, robbers, and motorcycle snatchers.
