UNSAFE CARS: Small cars in Pakistan are quite popular because of the afford-ability factor and fuel efficiency. However, despite their convenience, such cars often lack important safety features. Even in minor accidents, they can suffer severe damage, putting passengers at risk. A recent tragic accident, in which a truck completely crushed a small car on the motorway, has raised serious concerns about the structural weakness and overall safety profile of such cars, especially on high-speed roads. If such incidents continue, they could lead to even greater loss of life. The authorities might consider banning small cars on motorways.

LOUDSPEAKERS IN SCHOOLS: Nowadays, some schools in Abbottabad have made it a routine to use loudspeakers for various purposes. Usually, the volume is so high that people in the vicinity have to stop in the middle of their conversations. It not only causes nuisance in general, but also adds to noise pollution. Besides, it also has an adverse impact on human hearing ability. Even in mosques, the use of loudspeakers is prohibited except for azan. Schools are not making any announcement that involves the general public. The authorities concerned should look into the matter and regulate the unnecessary use of high-volume loudspeakers in schools.

MADADGAR 15: Once a vital lifeline for citizens in times of crisis, Madadgar 15, the emergency helpline of Sindh Police, has now become virtually non-functional in Jacobabad due to severe neglect and mismanagement. It had over 100 policemen and a dedicated in-charge officer, ensuring prompt response to emergencies and public safety concerns. However, officials sitting in Jacobabad have removed all policemen from the centre, leaving it with merely two or three operators and no dedicated law-enforcement personnel. This drastic reduction has rendered the service ineffective, leaving the locals vulnerable at the time of emergencies.
