RAWALPINDI: More than 40,000 tourist vehicles entered Murree during Eidul Fitr, boosting much-needed footfall at the scenic hill resort.
The influx continued uninterrupted on the third day of Eid.
A spokesman for the Murree City Traffic Police said in a press release on Wednesday that more than 200 traffic police personnel were on duty during Eidul Fitr to manage traffic.
He said Murree Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Mughees Ahmed Hashmi supervised all traffic arrangements.
“Motorcyclists without helmets were not allowed to enter Murree during Eid holidays. Despite two-way traffic and narrow roads, traffic was flowing on all roads in Murree,” the Murree CTO said.
All highways in Murree were open to traffic and traffic flow was normal, he said, adding that tourists should follow traffic rules to make their journey safe and enjoyable.
He further said that tourists should park only in designated areas specified by the traffic police and should adhere to their lanes.
“Traffic officers are continuously patrolling to keep traffic flowing and eliminate no-parking violations. Awareness was being provided about the traffic situation in Murree through electronic media and official social media pages,” CTO Mughees Ahmed Hashmi said.
