NAROWAL: As the Edi holidays end, many shopkeepers have started removing illegal encroachment and structures in front of their sops in various city bazaars on their own.
Earlier, Narowal district administration had also launched a an anti-encroachment drive in the city on the orders of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, like elsewhere in Punjab.
However, local traders and shopkeepers had requested Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza to postpone the drive till Eid as it was their peak sale time.
They had pledged to voluntarily remove the encroachments from the city bazaars after Eid holidays.
Now, many shopkeepers have started removing encroachments from city markets, including Zafarwal Road, as per their promise.
The DC warns that the shopkeepers who are not removing encroachments voluntarily will have to face action, adding that heavy machinery will be used to demolish illegal structures in the city markets to ease traffic flow.
