ATTOCK, April 30: The commerce ministry has approved the proposal of Attock Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to facilitate the business community of the district. This was disclosed by State Minister for Environment Malik Amin Alslam while talking to Dawn here on Sunday.
He said a proposal regarding set up of the ACCI had been forwarded to the ministry after demands of local business community leaders including the president of Trade and Industry, Mirza Abdul Rehman.
He said a proposal had been approved few days before after holding a number of meetings and discussions with the commerce ministry officials including federal commerce minister, Humayun Akhtar.
The chamber would guarantee economic boost and quick industrialisation in the underdeveloped district besides helping the business community and dealing with other issues such as unemployment and poverty, he said.
It emerges as an effective platform to resolve the problems of businessmen and providing them proper technical guidance for investment in the right direction, he said.
Mr Aslam said the ministry also notified the president trade and industry, who made hectic efforts in this regard, as a founder chairman of ACCI.
He said all necessary measures were being taken to make ACCI’s office in operation and he hoped it would start functioning in one month’s period after finalising all required formalities and arrangements.
Special task had been given to the founder chairman to ensure operation of the chamber as soon as possible, he said. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was expected to inaugurate ACCI office.
Mr Aslam said it was entirely blessing of Allah Almighty that come up expectations of business community by fulfilling their long standing demand. He thanked to the prime minister, minister for commerce and commerce secretary on extending their personal interests in establishing the ACCI.
