LAHORE: A young woman was shot dead at her house under mysterious circumstance in the jurisdiction of Chuhng police just a day before her wedding.

According to the initial police inquiries, the 23-year-old woman was shot in the head at her Aziz Colony house.

A police official says the victim’s family initially tried to mislead the police during investigation of the murder case, claiming she was shot dead by unknown armed men.

On further questioning, the family members changed their statements and claimed that the victim was allegedly murdered by the husband of her sister.

However, police picked up the deceased girl’s brothers and shifted them to the police station for further questioning.

The official says the family filed a complaint with police hours after the incident and nominated the victim’s brother-in-law, who had already fled the scene.

The police shifted the body to the city morgue for the postmortem examination and expanded the scope of investigation, doubting the victim’s family’s statements.

ARRESTED: The Baghbanpura police have arrested five suspects in a blind murder case of a young girl.

As per the police, they were informed about the body of a 17-year-old girl lying in a graveyard on Wednesday by some passersby.

A police official says a police team and forensic experts inspected the crime scene and shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy.

He says the police investigated the case on modern lines and picked up five suspects.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have gang-raped the girl and then killed her to conceal the heinous crime.
