ISLAMABAD: In separate incidents of robberies, gunmen shot and injured a man and looted an assistant sub-inspector. Besides, burglars also stole cash and valuables worth over Rs8 million from different houses, police said.

In the first incident, two robbers looted a mobile phone and motorcycles and shot and injured one robbery victim near Faizabad, located at a distance of 2.5 kilometres from the Industrial Area police station and a few metres from the Faizabad check post. Over the incident, a case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station under Section 394.

The FIR was registered in response to a complaint lodged by one of the victims, who stated that he was present at the Faizabad Bridge and talking on a mobile phone (Samsung S22 Ultra) when two riders looted the mobile from him at gunpoint. However, he put up resistance due to which the robbers shot him and he sustained multiple bullet injuries. Besides, “one of their accomplices was also injured due to the firing of the culprits”, the FIR added.

The robbers subsequently fell on the road from their motorcycle and left their Honda 125 behind. At some distance, they intercepted a motorcyclist and looted his Honda 70 at gunpoint and escaped.

Over the incident, the police issued a statement on their official X account. They stated “prompt action by police” foiled the snatching activity. According to the statement, motorcycle-borne robbers attempted to rob a citizen on Faizabad Bridge. The robbers opened fire on seeing the police. “In the exchange of firing, the injured robber escaped from the spot, leaving behind the motorcycle.” The pursuit of the injured robbers is in progress, and they will be arrested soon, the statement said.

Videos of the incidents revealed that the robbers while moving on the motorcycle stopped in the fast lane of the road, and ran towards the opposite side of the road leaving behind their motorcycle. Apparently, they were moving normally and as they were not injured at the time.

After reaching the opposite side, the robbers intercepted a motorcyclist and held him up at gunpoint and escaped by using the loop, adjacent to the spot by moving on the wrong side.
