LAKKI MARWAT: A proclaimed offender was killed and two policemen were injured in an exchange of fire in Gidar Mamakhel area of Bannu on Friday, the police said.

“After receiving credible information about the presence of a wanted outlaw, Akhtar Khan at his hideout, a police party was dispatched to the area to apprehend him,” said a police official.

He said the outlaw attacked the policemen when they started laying a siege around his hideout. “Along with taking cover of intense firing the PO also hurled a hand grenade toward the police party in a bid to flee the place,” maintained the official, adding two police officials, including ASI Aurangzeb and constable Liaqat Ali, were injured in the attack.

He said the cops returned the fire and the gun battle continued for some time, resulting in the killing of the proclaimed offender. He said the killed outlaw was wanted by police in a murder and other cases. “The body and the injured policemen were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital,” he claimed, saying condition of the injured cops is stable.
