JUSTICE DENIED: This is with reference to the report “Man who set himself ablaze at LHC over ‘delay in justice’ dies in hospital” (Dawn.com, Feb 28). My heart goes out to his family that must be struggling emotionally and financially. We should help them. In the West, crowdfunding platforms allow people to raise money for such causes, but there is no such thing here. Can the authorities shed light on why we cannot have a similar platform in Pakistan?

PATRIOTISM: One of our very close relatives visited us recently to tell us that the family had been so fed up with the situation in the country that it had decided to settle abroad. People need to understand the value of their independence, especially the young generation. If we want to strive and make our country prosperous, we need to stay here and play our role as responsible citizens.

RALLY ON FOOTPATHS: This is with reference to the letter ‘Blocking roads’ (March 8), which correctly pointed out that blocking roads is a cruelty as patients suffer and labourers could not reach their workplace in time. The political parties should learn a lesson from the Indian state of Gujarat where political parties are not allowed to block the roads, and are only permitted to use footpaths for rallies and processions in queues of 3-4 persons. It is the responsibility of the organisers to ensure that no member of the rally blocked the road.

COMMERCIALISATION: The site of Koh-i-Murad has increasingly turned into a commercial hub. Visitors to the site have to put up with exorbitant prices of basic items. This exploitation is deeply concer-ning. Shopkeepers say their hand is forced by excessive rental costs imposed on them. This burden inevitably falls on the consumers. The local authorities should ensure fair business practices.
