QUETTA: An Afghan collier was killed in an accident that took place inside a coal mine in the mining area of Duki on Sunday.

Levies officials said the accident occurred when a moving trolley loaded with coal suddenly hit the miner, killing him on the spot.

The officials concerned after recovering the body of the miner shifted it to the Duki district hospital and later it was handed over to the company for sending it to family members. The miner was identified as Allah Muhammad from Afghanistan.

On Jan 11, a mine worker was killed in Duki coal field area due to mudslide in the mine, two days after eight coal miners lost their lives inside a collapsed mine in the Sanjdi area of Quetta due to methane gas explosion.

The Mines and Minerals Department had decided to take legal action against the owner of the collapsed coal mine in Sanjdi for not taking safety measures.
