BAJAUR: A jirga resolved a 170-year old land dispute between rival tribes in Mamond tehsil here on Sunday.
The land dispute between the families of Hazrat Mohammad and Haji Nazeer Mulakhel has left several people from both the sides dead and a number of others injured.
The dispute was settled at ceremony held in Monarkot area.
PTI MPA Dr Hamidur Rahman, Maulana Fazal Haq, Malik Mashooq Khan, Maulana Ameer Jamal, Maulana Mumtaz Khan, Dr Ilyas Khan, Maulana Liaqat, and Mamond police station SHO Niaz Khan attended the ceremony.
Haji Shamasur Rehman, head of the jirga, while addressing the ceremony, highlighted the devastating impact of the enmity on the area.
The other jirga members said that they undertook their efforts voluntarily with the sole aim of fostering peace, improving the lives of people and contributing to the region’s overall stability.
They said the district administration also extended its support to them in peaceful resolution of the land dispute.
IMRAN’S RELEASE SOUGHT: PTI workers on Sunday demanded the immediate release of the party’s founding chairman Imran Khan and other leaders from jail.
They made the demand while speaking at a meeting held at the residence of MPA Dr Hamidur Rahman in Sewai area of Mamond tehsil on the call of party’s provincial president Junid Akbar Khan.
The participants expressed grave concern about the prolonged detention of Imran Khan and other party leaders.
They said they were ready to make all sorts of sacrifices for the early and dignified release of their leader.
The participants urged the party’s central and provincial leadership to launch a result-oriented protest movement against the government.
