SARGODHA: Three siblings were killed and as many other people seriously injured in traffic accidents due to speeding on Monday.

The injured were shifted to the hospital and the driver of a double cabin was arrested.

According to sources, 16-year-old Azan Ali, 10-year-old Faizan Ali and 12-year-old Iman Fatima, all riding a motorcycle, were killed in an accident with a speeding double cabin near Bacha Kalan village in Kot Momin town of Sargodha.

Their bodies were handed over to their heirs after fulfilling formalities and driver Mumtaz Fakhar was arrested.

Meanwhile, in the Satellite Town area, a speeding bus hit a rickshaw and left injured three passengers — 45-year-old Attaur Rehman of Iqbal Colony, his 22-year-old son Talha and 45-year-old Mazhar Hussain. They were shifted to the hospital.

Police are investigating both incidents.

GANG BUSTED: The Bhera Police arrested a four-member criminal gang and recovered stolen property and illegal weapons worth over Rs3 million.

The gang consisted of Muhammad Imran, Hamid Ali, Shahzad and Ahmed Khan, wanted for theft and robbery cases. Police recovered a pickup truck, motorcycles, buffaloes, household goods and illegal weapons, such as a 30-bore pistol and a 12-bore gun.

Investigation is underway.

INJURED: A 36-year-old petrol agency owner, Muhammad Ashfaq, was seriously injured in a clash between two parties over a petrol pump and petrol agency dispute in Chawa village of Bhera town of Sargodha.

He was shifted to the hospital. Police are questioning members of both parties and are investigating.

ESCAPE: The two suspects who escaped from police custody along with their accomplices who attacked the police on a motorcycle were re-arrested in a serious condition in an alleged police encounter.

They were shifted to the hospital and the police are investigating the case of the suspects involved in the incident.

According to sources, the police were taking Riaz and Irfan, arrested in a case of robbery and theft in Shahpur town of Sargodha, to Shahpur Sadar police for weapons recovery. On the way, the armed accomplices riding a motorcycle attacked the police and the two suspects fled.

Police chased the suspects, and in an alleged encounter near Bakhar Bar, Riaz and Irfan were re-arrested in an injured condition. They were shifted to Shahpur THQ Hospital.

The police registered a case under sections 324, 224, 225, 186, 34 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched a hunt for the suspects.
