NAROWAL: Police have booked seven persons after a man was allegedly shot dead over a delay in preparing barbecue for some wedding guests arriving late at Nawan Koh village in Sheikhupura on Tuesday night.

In his complaint, Syed Sanaur Rehman, a resident of Mohalla Siddiqa Colony, Sheikhupura, said he ran a barbecue shop on Sharqpur Road.

He said Zygham Abbas hired his services for preparing barbecue at a wedding ceremony held at Nawan Koh village on Tuesday night.

He said he and his brothers went to the village and prepared barbecue for all the guests.

He said after finishing their job, when they were about to return to Sheikhupura, some more guests arrived late at the event.

He said Zygham forced him and his brothers to prepare fresh barbecue for the guests. He said they started preparing barbecue but the suspects got annoyed at delay in serving the food and opened indiscriminate fire.

The complainant said a bullet fired by the suspects hit his brother, Saleem Nasir, who died on the spot, while Zygham and others fled away after resorting to aerial fire.

Bhikhi police have registered an FIR under sections 302, 148 and 149 of the PPC against Ziagham Abbas, Khurram Abbas, Faisal Abbas and four unidentified suspects on the complaint.

The police shifted the victim’s body to the government hospital for a postmortem examination.
