ISLAMABAD: MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan said on Saturday that close cooperation between police and the public was crucial to eradicate crime, adding the government was striving to resolve all issues faced by the police.

Speaking at a function held in honour of promoted police officers, Mr Anjum praised officers of Islamabad Police saying they have set high standards of duty, honesty, and public service.

The promotion of ten dedicated officers from DSP to SP is, in fact, recognition of their tireless hard work, commitment, and selfless struggle against crimes, he said.

The Islamabad police officers promoted from DSP to SP include Mohammad Sharif Kolachi, Munawar Ali Mahar, Hakim Khan, Mohammad Mahfooz Kayani, Imtiaz Ali Shah, Abid Ikram, Majid Iqbal, Mohammad Najeeb Shah, Sajjad Haider Shah and Hassan Raza.

Anjum Aqeel Khan further stated that communication between police and the public helps in identifying criminal elements in the city.

The promoted officers have rendered commendable services for Islamabad. He paid tribute to the police martyrs who laid down their lives for the safety of citizens.

Businessman Waqar Bakhtawari while praising the services of the promoted officers, said that the armed forces and police have made unparalleled sacrifices for the internal and external security of the country, for peace and order.

The business and industrial community especially recognises their sacrifices and is striving to further enhance their respect and dignity in society.

He added it is unfortunate some people in the country run false propaganda against those who honor these institutions, labeling them as agents of certain departments or sycophants of the police.

He described the promotion of Islamabad Police’s talented and dutiful officers as a welcome step.
