ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Tuesday paid tribute to late Senator Taj Haider and former senator and Jamaat-i-Islami leader Prof Khurshid Ahmad over their invaluable national services.

The House through two separate unanimously adopted resolutions expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of two veteran politicians.

The resolution for Senator Haider was moved by the PPP parliamentary leader in the House while the one for Prof Ahmad was moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

The resolution described Senator Haider as a steadfast democrat and a seasoned parliamentarian. A veteran of national politics, he was also a renowned playwright, mathematician, and a versatile scholar whose contributions extended well beyond the political realm, the resolution said.

The other resolution said Prof Ahmad was a distinguished economist, eminent Islamic scholar, and a dedicated statesman whose intellectual legacy and public contributions have left a lasting impact on Pakistan.

His scholarly work on Islamic economics and ideology has been widely recognised both nationally and internationally.
