THE ongoing situation in Gaza has deeply shaken the Muslim world. Across Pakistan, people have taken to the streets, urging a complete boycott of Israel-linked products. Social media is flooded with awareness campaigns, urging people to stop purcha-sing products manufactured by companies that indirectly contribute to Palestinian sufferings. Many hotels and stores have already cut ties with such brands, showing that the public is ready to take a stand.

While people have expressed their out-rage, true justice demands action beyond protests and social media campaigns. It is now the government’s responsibility to take decisive steps and cancel the licences of major pro-Israel brands operating in our country.

Global chains have been accused of supporting Israel in various ways, either through direct donations or indirect funding. These brands continue to operate in Pakistan, profiting from our markets, while backing the oppressors of innocent Palestinians. This contradiction must end. The government must immediately revoke the business licences of all such companies, sending a strong message that Pakistan stands with Palestine not just in words, but in action as well.

If the authorities truly wish to seen as representing public sentiment, they should remove these brands from the economy. The people of Pakistan have spoken. It is now time for the government to act.
