SIALKOT, May 6: The district council session on Saturday took several measures for the public welfare and socio-economic development. The house approved all the development schemes to be completed under the supervision of the citizen community boards at a cost of Rs130 million before July 2006. It formulated 23 departmental sub-committees and gave approval of appointments of 14 health inspectors.

The session was presided over by convener Rana Ejaz Ahmad.

District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema said Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi would lay the foundation stone of the Rs20 billion Sialkot-Lahore motorway project during his coming visit and announce a special development package of Rs5 billion.
