LARKANA, May 7: Sindh Qaumi Ittehad (SQI) has termed demolition of old Sindhi localities in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur a conspiracy and warned the government of action if the demolition is not stopped.

Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, chairman SQI, presided over the meeting of the heads of the component parties of the SQI here on Sunday night that took stock of the prevailing political situation in the country.

The meeting asked workers of all component parties to undertake mass contact drive to moblise support for May 9 strike in Sindh against the construction of Bhasha Dam.

The meeting agreed to postpone a rally scheduled for 15 May for the release of Dr Safdar Sarki.

The central general secretary of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and decided to make success a public meeting of the SQI in Thatta on May 18 being held under the auspices of the SQI.

The rally would not only be against all anti-Sindh projects but would also demand release of Dr Safdar Sarki.

The meeting severely criticized the arrest of Dr Safdar Sarki and other political workers.

The SQI said that Sindh was facing 56 per cent shortage of irrigation water at this juncture and there would be no water for the coming Kharif crops it added.

The situation demands Sindhis to unite as Sindh was passing through crisis otherwise history would not forgive them, the SQI said.

Bashir Khan Qureshi, Hussain Bakhsh Thebo, Abdul Khalique Junejo, Syed Zain Shah, Dr Hameed Memon, Gul Mohammed Jakhrani, Dr Niaz Kalani, Punhal Sariyo, Ayoub Shar, Hashim Khoso, Haider Shahani and others attended the meeting of all component parties of SQI at Mumtaz Bhutto’s Larkana residence.
