SUKKUR, May 14: The Mahar group swept 25 out of 39 union councils, in the local government elections held in district Ghotki on Sunday. Polling at one union council was postponed as a result of an armed clash between two groups.

According to the unofficial results, the Mahar group emerged victorious on all the 14 union councils of Ghotki taluka and four union councils of Khangarh taluka, while three out of eight of Ubauro, three out of eight of Mirpur Mathelo, and one out of six of Daharki, were bagged by the Mahar group. While election at the union council Pacca Chandio of Ubauro has been postponed due to an armed clash between two groups. Elections on this UC will be held on May 22.
